Where the content comes from
Built from direct engagement with security and fraud practitioners, not secondary sources.
How we write
Every article describes how an attack or detection actually works. No hype, no filler.
Who this is for
Security leads, fraud investigators, and IT decision-makers who need clear, usable signal.

From building generative AI to defending against it

Rohan founded QuillBot in 2017 after posting an early version of the tool on Reddit. It became one of the most widely used AI writing platforms and was acquired by Course Hero, now Learneo, in August 2021.

He co-founded Diopter with Jeremy Pippin after seeing how quickly generative AI moved from productivity use cases to impersonation and fraud. Diopter scores live video and voice calls for synthetic media, and for the pattern attackers actually run: authority, urgency, isolation, escalation, and the ask.

Fraud is rarely detectable from a single frame or voice sample. It unfolds across a conversation, and the arc is the unit of analysis.

Diopter’s stated position on detection, from the company’s founding principles.

01
We start with practitioners
Our research is grounded in direct conversation with the security and fraud teams who are managing these threats right now, not pulled from press releases or vendor reports.
02
We describe mechanisms, not opinions
Every article is structured around how something works: the attack sequence, the detection surface, the decision point. We let the structure carry the weight, not the adjectives.
03
We review against our own detection research
Before anything publishes, it gets checked against Diopter’s internal research to make sure the technical framing holds up.
